NEW YORK – Major League Soccer’s Disciplinary Committee handed down suspensions for four players on Tuesday following the weekend’s games.

FC Dallas defender Jair Benitez has been suspended for one game and fined for violent conduct that endangered the safety of his opponent for throwing an elbow at D.C. United’s Danny Cruz while battling for possession in the 71st minute of the teams’ match last Friday night.
Cruz was also fined for his act of embellishment, which brought the game into disrepute. Cruz simulated being struck in the face during the episode.

D.C. United’s Brandon McDonald was suspended for one game and fined for his reckless challenge that endangered the safety of his opponent. McDonald tackled FC Dallas striker Blas Pérez from behind in the 20th minute of the match between FC Dallas and D.C. United.
WATCH: Harris elbows Valdes
Vancouver’s Atiba Harris was also suspended for one game and fined for violent conduct that endangered the safety of his opponent. Harris elbowed Philadelphia Union defender Carlos Valdés in the 65th minute of the match between the Philadelphia Union and Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, and was issued a yellow card for the offense.
