NY's Thierry Henry repeats as MLS Player of the Week

Thierry Henry

Who do you think should have won the Player of the Week award from the players who received NASR votes?

He's done it again.

For the second consecutive week, New York Red Bulls star forward Thierry Henry has earned the accolades by claiming another Player of the Week award, this time with a hat trick and assist in a Week 4 victory against the Montreal Impact by a 5-2 scoreline on Saturday afternoon.

This weekend's output by the Frenchman was one goal better than the two goals and an assist that he registered in a 4-1 win over the Colorado Rapids in the Red Bulls' home opener last week.

The North American Soccer Reporters awarded Henry the honor with 21 of 25 first-choice votes (see how the media voted here). D.C. United forward Maicon Santos, who scored two goals, won two first-place nods, while his teammate Nick DeLeon and Portland Timbers midfielder Eric Alexander claimed the other two.

Henry's first tally on a header equalized the score against Montreal at 1-1 and his next goal on a nifty spin and shot from the top of the box put the Red Bulls ahead for good at 3-2. He followed that up with a heel-flick assist to teammate Mehdi Ballouchy and then knocked home a rebound in the final minute to round out the score at 5-2.

The league's goal-scoring leader has now had a hand in eight of the 10 goals that the Red Bulls have scored thus far in 2012.
