Whitecaps' Cannon wins Save of the Week in landslide

Joe Cannon has talked the talk and now he's walking the walk.

After an offseason of news articles in which the Vancouver Whitecaps' veteran goalkeeper assured fans he was in better form than ever, he's proving it on the field in 2012, claiming the Week 2 MLS Save of the Week award.

A whopping majority of fans voted Cannon's stop against Chivas USA's Casey Townsend as the best of the weekend. The 37-year-old went flying to tip away a shot by the Goats rookie striker, which was destined for the top right corner.

Cannon was later forced out of the match with a thigh bruise, but it didn't stop the Whitecaps from registering their second shutout victory to start the season as they walked away 1-0 winners.

Week 2 Voting Results:

1. Joe Cannon (VAN) 67.36%

2. Tally Hall (HOU) 10.08%

3. Kevin Hartman (DAL) 8.15%

4. Matt Reis (NE) 7.51%

5. Joe Willis (DC) 6.9%
