Vancouver Whitecaps fans can begin to celebrate early.

In all likelihood, the last-placed team in the West in 2011 will make this year's MLS Cup Playoffs.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the official statistician for Major League Soccer, 90.3 percent of MLS teams that have won their first two matches of an MLS season make the playoffs.

There have been 31 teams prior to 2012 that have won the first two contests of an MLS campaign and only on three occasions did they fail to make the postseason: New York (1999) and Kansas City (2006 and 2010).

In addition to Vancouver, there are four other clubs that have a 100 percent record after two rounds of matches in 2012: Sporting Kansas City, Houston Dynamo, Colorado Rapids and Real Salt Lake. All four advanced to the postseason last year.
