AMSTERDAM — Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Ricardo Clark has completed a loan move to Norwegian top-flighters Stabæk through the end of July.
The Blue Ones, who start the new Tippeligaen season when Aalesund come to town on March 25, featured the US international in defensive midfield during Wednesday's 1-0 friendly win at Valencia. The club was originally planning to decide on acquiring Clark after the match, but jumped the gun to sign him on loan before it started.
"In Ricardo, we get an experienced player who can play in any position in midfield, plus he can play central defender," Stabæk sport director Inge André Olsen told the club website. "We have looked for a player who can strengthen us on the ground, and we definitely got that in Ricardo."
Clark, who remains signed with Eintracht until the summer of 2013, is expected to help fill the lineup void caused by Mikkel Diskerud's loan spell at Gent and the sale of Henning Hauger to Hannover 96 last summer. Stabæk finished 10th in the league last season, but currently stand poised to gain a 2012-13 Europa League invite through the UEFA Fair Play rankings.
