AMSTERDAM — Nottingham Forest attacker Robbie Findley personally rebounded from an early horror miss on Tuesday, but his team never did, flopping out of the FA Cup with a 4-0 third-round loss at Leicester City.
With his slumping team already down one in the 11th minute, the US international missed the sitter of sitters after home netminder Kasper Schmeichel misplayed a deflected cross. After the ball dropped in his lap, Findley ensured his place on highlight shows around the globe for the next few days by awkwardly shooting over from about five feet.
Despite the early gaffe, the former Real Salt Lake ace was the most influential Reds attacker of the first half. Findley also was denied on a restart header near the break and supplied a few troublesome crosses from his right wing position.
In the end, a Jermaine Beckford hat trick inside the game's middle half-hour was enough to see the Foxes advance easily. Forest have now been shut out in 10 of 11 games since the occasion of Findley's last goal on Nov. 19.
