Houston's Cruz draws interest from Euro, MLS clubs

Danny Cruz and the Dynamo remain positive despite recent struggles.

AMSTERDAM — With his contract set to expire at year's end, MLSsoccer.com has learned that Houston Dynamo right-sider Danny Cruz is receiving introductory interest from several clubs on both sides of the Atlantic.

Currently at US Olympic camp in Florida, the 21-year-old attacker still has potential suitors in Major League Soccer. Cruz's agent confirmed he also has admirers in a few European countries, including the Netherlands.

"His option wasn't picked up by MLS," Cruz rep Mike Gartland told MLSsoccer.com. "There are some teams that have interest, but nothing concrete yet."

As Cruz is too young to be eligible for the Re-Entry process, the Dynamo still retain his MLS rights. Houston declined to comment on Cruz when contacted by MLSsoccer.com.

A third-round pick in the 2009 SuperDraft, the UNLV alum has been a part-time starter for Houston the last two seasons. in 2011, Cruz rang up two goals and three assists in 20 regular-season games, then started all four playoff contests for the MLS Cup runners-up.
