The Rose City will become a host city when the Portland Timbers welcome three other teams in a four-team preseason tournament beginning in late February, the club announced on Tuesday.
The Timbers will host MLS Western Conference rivals Chivas USA and San Jose Earthquakes, as well as storied Swedish top-flight club AIK.
The round-robin tournament, which will be played at JELD-WEN Field, will kick off with a Feb. 27 match between Chivas USA and AIK, and end March 4, when the Timbers take on the Gnaget.
With the Timbers, Earthquakes and Chivas all still bolstering their squads ahead of the 2012 season, the tournament will serve as the final tune-up for all three MLS sides ahead of First Kick.
