American Exports: Rangers optimistic over Bocanegra

Carlos Bocanegra

AMSTERDAM — Rangers are crossing their fingers that center back Carlos Bocanegra can be out of the shop by the time the Scottish leaders make their Dec. 10 trip to Hibernian.

The US skipper had worked every minute of 11 straight contests for the Blues before picking up a hamstring injury in the final training session prior to Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock.

"He's got a small tear in his hamstring," a Rangers spokeswoman told MLSsoccer.com. "He'll probably be out about two weeks. We hope he will be ready for the Hibs game."

Along with fellow US internationals Alejandro Bedoya and Maurice Edu, Bocanegra is trying to help Rangers win their fourth consecutive league crown. On Saturday, the Ibrox crew will take a four-point penthouse advantage into their match with visiting Dunfermline.
