CCL: Quarters draw pits LA vs. Toronto, Seattle vs. Santos

CCL Quarterfinal matchups

The odds are in favor of another MLS team advancing to the finals of the CONCACAF Champions League for the second straight year after the quarterfinal draw was released on Tuesday.

The LA Galaxy will face Toronto FC in one home-and-home quarterfinal series, with the winner taking on the team that emerges from the quarterfinal matchup between the Seattle Sounders and Santos Laguna. It gives a 75 percent chance for an MLS side to qualify for the finals.

On the other side of the bracket, Salvadoran side Isidro Metapán will be heavy underdogs against Pumas UNAM while defending champions Monterrey will face Monarcas Morelia.

The group winners (LA, Santos, Pumas and Monterrey) will host the second leg of the quarterfinal round between March 6 and March 8 with second legs being completed a week later.

The winner of the Galaxy vs. TFC series will host the first match of the semifinal round against Seattle or Santos between March 27 and March 29, with the second leg scheduled for the following week.

Should an MLS team advance to the final, it would host the second leg of the Champions League finals between April 24 and April 26.
