NBA champ Dirk Nowitzki shows support for FC Dallas

Dallas Maverick star Dirk Nowitzki poses in an FC Dallas jersey

What’s seven feet tall, has a mean jumper and has red-and-white stripes all over?

Well, Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki in a custom FC Dallas kit, of course.

With a little time on his hands during the NBA lockout, the big German and reigning NBA champion stopped by Pizza Hut Park on Tuesday night to catch his first FC Dallas match. Unfortunately for Nowitzki, he was witness to FCD's heartbreaking 3-0 loss to Toronto FC in a CONCACAF Champions League fixture.

Click on the video below to watch Nowitzki praise Brek Shea’s speed and skill on the left wing, talk about the growing trend of NBA-players-turned-soccer-owners (like his buddy and Vancouver Whitecaps co-owner Steve Nash), give his opinion on the appointment of his countryman Jurgen Klinsmann as head coach of the US national team and what FCD must do to reach – and win – this year’s MLS Cup.
