Gringo Report: Orozco Fiscal, San Luis hold Castillo & Co.

Edgar Castillo and America vs. San Luis

GUADALAJARA, Mexico — Wednesday’s game between Michael Orozco Fiscal’s San Luis and Edgar Castillo’s Club América at Estadio Azteca ended in a 2-2 tie after a last-minute equalizer by San Luis’ Wilmar Aguirre.

Castillo (above, right) started in his customary left back position with Orozco Fiscal shifted out to right back, as he did against Atlas last Saturday. Both US national-teamers players completed the full match and put in solid displays.

Southern Californian Isaac Acuña entered the game in second-half injury time as América scrambled for a winner.

The postponed game from Round 4 of the Mexican Primera División was billed as a must-win for las Águilar, with numerous press reports speculating that coach Carlos Reinoso was close to being relieved of his duties with the Mexico City giants.

Reinoso didn’t discuss the speculation in the postgame press conference, but a decision on his future is due to be announced by América directors by Thursday morning, according to reports from ESPN in Mexico.

América have nine points from eight games and sit in 13th place in the Mexican league table. San Luis moved into a playoff spot in seventh place.
