#24. A.J. Soares
Pos: D | New England Revolution | Age: 22
Rookie of the Year candidate who’s been a bright spot at left center back for the Revs during a difficult season. The No. 6 overall SuperDraft selection has lived up to the hype of his college years by becoming an immovable starter for New England although it is clear that he is still adjusting to the professional game. He's an intelligent enough individual to learn his lessons from the adversity his club has faced in 2011 and be ready to take another leap in 2012.
What the TDs and coaches say: “Pretty solid and he thinks the game … Going to get a chance at the US national team … Can match up well with any type of forward … He’s intelligent at that position and extremely competitive. Good mentality … Very athletic and has a good vertical [leap]. Good in the air and can score with his head. He’s got the little bit of hardness you need in that position and can deliver an entry ball left and right-footed … Needs to work on getting to know the forwards in the league and develop more composure on the ball to make better decisions.”
