AMSTERDAM — The Egyptian FA is hoping to receive an answer from Bob Bradley about its vacant manager's job next week, MLSsoccer.com has learned.
Bradley was also being considered by Mexican top-flighters Santos Laguna, though reports surfaced in Mexico on Thursday that the Torreón-based club had hired former head coach Benjamín Galindo. On Monday, Bradley's agent confirmed that Bradley was in Mexico to meet with club officials.
However, the struggling Pharoahs have remained consistent in their pursuit, which began shortly after Bradley's dismissal more than a month ago. An EFA spokesman reiterated that the erstwhile US coach was the federation's choice to take over for the most successful boss in Egypt history, Hassan Shehata.
"Yes, everything is still here for Bob Bradley," EFA press officer Azmi Megahed told MLSsoccer.com on Thursday afternoon. "We hope, maybe, we can have the answer next week. We hope he will be the coach."
The three-time defending African Cup of Nations kings have been officially dethroned and are looking to Bradley to get them out of a valley. Last week, they lost all hope of qualifying for the 2012 continental championship with a last-minute 2-1 loss away to Sporting KC's Kei Kamara and Sierra Leone.
