Torrential rains lashed Guatemala City on Tuesday, forcing the postponement of a CONCACAF Champions League match between Comunicaciones and Herediano. The Group D rivals' game has been rescheduled for Wednesday morning at noon ET.
Day-long rains flooded the Field Turf at Estadio Cementos Progreso, Comunicaciones' home field, prompting CONCACAF officials to delay the match. It marks the first time a Champions League contest hasn't gone off as scheduled since 2008, the first year of the reconstituted tournament.
The two sides are both coming off losses, as Comunicaciones lost 4-1 at Seattle last week while Herediano were stung 5-0 by Monterrey. The Sounders currently top the group with a full six points from the first two match days.
