FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Milton Caraglio and Dane Richards each scored twice as the New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Gillette Stadium.

Caraglio opened his MLS account after a quarter of an hour by converting his own rebound off a Bouna Coundoul save, then added his second goal eight minutes before halftime by heading home a Kenny Mansally free kick. Richards reduced the deficit by slotting home Tim Ream's long feed on a breakaway after 53 minutes before Mansally (55th minute) and Teemu Tainio (69th minute) were both dismissed for second yellow cards.

Richards grabbed the equalizer with three minutes to play as he thumped home Joel Lindpere's near post cross to grab a point, but New York saw their winless run in Foxborough extended to 14 matches (0-10-4).

New England started brightly against a listless New York side and sustained that effort through one of their best first-half performances of the season.

Caraglio nearly opened his account in the fifth minute after nodding a cross from Mansally down in front of the goal, but the shot bounced over the crossbar. The Argentine striker made amends 10 minutes later with a bullish run to convert his first MLS goal. Benny Feilhaber slotted Caraglio into the middle of the park. Caraglio bowled through three Red Bulls defenders before collecting his own rebound and tucking home at the second time of asking.

Caraglio doubled his haul eight minutes before halftime to punish Rafa Marquez's inability to convert his header two minutes earlier. New York found themselves exposed on a set piece for a 13th time this season, and on this occasion, Caraglio was able to coolly head home Mansally's service at the back post to notch a brace.

New York thought they had won a penalty on the stroke of halftime when referee Juan Guzman appeared to award a penalty after stand-in goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth hauled down Dax McCarty in the box, but Guzman consulted with assistant referee Fabio Tovar before surprisingly deciding to book McCarty for simulation instead.

Richards ultimately pulled the Red Bulls within a goal eight minutes after play resumed. Tim Ream caught the Revs' high line out with a culture feed and sent Richards racing through on a breakaway. Richards thumped home at the near post to notch his fourth goal of the season.

Mansally plunged the match into further chaos when he earned his second yellow card for a wayward elbow after 55 minutes. New York pushed numbers further forward and asserted control over the match for the following 10 minutes or so, but Tainio eliminated the Red Bulls' numerical advantage in the 69th minute by hacking Shalrie Joseph down from behind to pick up his second yellow.

Both sides saw penalty appeals waved away — Ryan Cochrane used his shoulder to bump McCarty to the ground, while Ream caught Caraglio in the late stages — before Richards salvaged a point with three minutes to play. Lindpere carved out a yard of space on the left flank and drove a low cross for Richards to turn home at the near post to secure the draw.
