For the average professional soccer player, to play every minute for his club in a given league season would be considered a major accomplishment.
Colorado Rapids center back Drew Moor, who has not missed a single league minute for his club in three years, is achieving a milestone.
Should he play the full 90 against visiting Chivas USA on Saturday (9 pm ET, watch LIVE online), he will have played the most consecutive full regular-season matches by a field player in MLS history. The stretch started back on August 6, 2009, when he still played for FC Dallas.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, a complete match against Chivas USA would take Moor to 68 consecutive complete matches played, which would eclipse the mark set by Peter Vermes for field players. Moor would need to play every regular season match into the start of the 2013 season to break the overall record held by goalkeeper Kevin Hartman (112 matches).
Here's one thing to keep in mind: On the same day Moor sets the record, he could very well end his streak. Should he pick up a yellow card against Chivas USA, it would trigger an automatic one-game suspension.
