Vancouver-RSL match rescheduled for Oct. 6 at BC Place

The Vancouver Whitecaps' BC Place

Fans who were disappointed by the postponement of the July 16 match between the Vancouver Whitecaps and Real Salt Lake match are getting an upgrade.

The match has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 6 at 9:30 pm ET, at the soon-to-be-opened permanent home of the Whitecaps, BC Place. That game will mark the second MLS match to be held at the renovated facility, which is undergoing nearly $500 million in upgrades.

The Vancouver-RSL match was originally scheduled to take place on July 16, but was postponed after heavy rainfall made the temporary grass pitch at the Whitecaps’ temporary facility, Empire Field, unplayable. The natural turf had been installed for the World Football Challenge match between the Whitecaps and Manchester City.

When completed, BC Place will seat around 20,000 fans underneath a retractable roof in downtown Vancouver.

“We were very disappointed to have to postpone our Real Salt Lake match earlier this month,” said Whitecaps FC chief executive Paul Barber in a statement. “With the match now rescheduled for October 6, we are delighted to offer our fans one additional opportunity to witness a Whitecaps FC match on Bell Pitch downtown at BC Place this season. We appreciate the understanding our fans have shown, as we worked towards rescheduling this match.”
