Keller wins third Save of the Week nod

Seattle goalkeeper Kasey Keller snags a high ball against Chicago, June 4, 2011.

Once again, it’s Kasey Keller. And it wasn’t even close.

The 41-year-old human brick wall won his third Save of the Week nod this season for his stop on Chicago midfielder Daniel Paladini at Toyota Park last Saturday.

In the 29th minute, Paladini tested Keller from 25 yards out with a laser hell-bent for the top left corner. But the Sounders ‘keeper dove to his right and put a glove to the ball to send it over the crossbar. It was one of five saves on the night for Keller, whose Sounders spoiled Frank Klopas’ head coaching debut in a scoreless draw.

Keller dominated the fan voting with 43.6 percent of the tallies, easily outdistancing his counterpart in the match, Chicago’s Sean Johnson, who made a fine stop on Fredy Montero’s header in the sixth minute.
