Gold Cup: Bedoya officially replaces Feilhaber on US roster

US mid Alejandro Bedoya returned to the Orebro starting lineup in their 3-0 win in Sweden

As expected, midfielder Alejandro Bedoya will replace the injured Benny Feilhaber on the Gold Cup roster.

Bedoya has been training with the American squad since May 30, and was the sixth and final substitute used in the 4-0 defeat to Spain on Saturday after coming on for Juan Agudelo in the 65th minute. It was his ninth cap.

Feilhaber injured his ankle playing in the New England Revolution's match with the LA Galaxy on May 28.

The news comes a day before the Americans begin their quest to win the regional tournament on Tuesday against Canada.

The personnel shuffle doesn't change the roster significantly. Though Bedoya — who plays his club soccer for Sweden's Örebro — is more of a traditional winger than his Major League Soccer counterpart, Bob Bradley planned to use Feilhaber to inject some width and creativity off the bench, and Bedoya will play the same role.
