A.J. DeLaGarza and Landon Donovan's effort to deny the New England Revolution a late equalizer in a 1-0 road win at Gillette Stadium earned top honors for the MLS Save of the Week for week 11.
The Revs looked destined to score in stoppage time before the Galaxy's DeLaGarza's turned away a half-volleyed strike from 12 yards out by New England forward Zack Schilawski. The ball ricocheted out, but found its way back into the box where Schilawski again had a chance to equalize but sent the ball off the crossbar.
Shalrie Joseph looked ready to tally for the Revolution when he headed the rebound toward net, but the quick reactions of Donovan cleared the ball off the line and out of LA's box.
This marks the first time that the Save of the Week was awarded to two players. The Galaxy duo garnered 36.9 percent of the vote, narrowly edging Faryd Mondragón of Philadelphia (33.4 percent), who rejected a strike off the foot of Maicon Santos in a 6-2 win over Toronto.
