Chivas USA academy teams roll in 2011 openers

The Chivas USA Academy’s 2011 slate began in extremely positive fashion for the Rojiblancos on Saturday, as they swept two games against Real So Cal.

Chrisitan Carillo’s brace in the span of six minutes in the second half was enough for the U-18s in a 2-0 win, while the U-16s managed a single tally and held on to win 1-0.

The Charlotte Soccer Academy, however, enjoyed the best weekend of the development teams, going 4-0 in a packed weekend on the road. On Saturday, both the U-18s and U-16s defeated the Richmond Kickers, 3-1 and 2-0 respectively.

On Sunday, they traveled to Virginia Beach to take on Virginia Rush AJ Auxerre. It was another strong performance for Charlotte as the U-16s crushed the Rush 5-0, and the U-18s won 3-2.

The other Carolina-based team on a Virginia swing, however, didn’t taste the same success. North Meck SC swept Virginia Rush on Saturday, with the North Meck U-16s winning 2-0 and the U-18s winning 1-0.

Sunday’s trip to Richmond failed to maintain the winning momentum, as the Kickers swept North Meck in two close games: The Kickers U-18s won 2-1, and the U-16s won 1-0.
