American Exports: Cherundolo, Beasley returning to fitness

Steve Cherundolo with Hannover

AMSTERDAM â€” Bundesliga surprise package Hannover 96 are expecting injured American duo DaMarcus Beasley and skipper Steve Cherundolo back in training in time to vie for weekend selection.

The third-place Reds won their fifth straight game on Saturday, but Cherundolo was taken off near the hour mark with a knee injury.  Barring any further bad news during a short rest period for the US right back, Hannover are hoping he'll be fit for Saturday's visit to FC Nürnberg.

"The info until now says he will miss a few days of training," Hannover press officer Oliver Rickhof told MLSsoccer.com. "Normally, we would expect him to play on the weekend, but we'll check to see if there are any more problems."

Meanwhile, Beasley did not suit up for the Stuttgart victory due to a thigh nag, but he is also near a full return to practice.

"He has some problems with his leg muscle," Rickhof said. "He could not train. Tomorrow, the team will train and maybe he will join them again."

Since arriving on a free transfer from Rangers this past summer, Beasley has been limited to four appearances off the bench in the Reds' 16 league matches.
