The news came less than one hour after New England announced details of a press conference that will be held at Gillette Stadium.

Twellman, the youngest player to reach 100 goals, has not appeared in a Revolution jersey since June 7, 2009, when he scored a brace against the New York Red Bulls and won the Player of the Week award.

In his period of inactivity, he has earned positive reviews for his broadcasting work, serving as a color commentator on select matches and offering expert analysis on the 2010 World Cup for a local network in New England.
