Wizards Weekly to debut on Metro Sports Thursday, April 12

The Kansas City Wizards, in partnership with Metro Sports-Time Warner Cable, will debut the first episode of "Wizards Weekly" this Thursday, April 12. The show, which will air each Thursday at 11:30 p.m. and replay Fridays at 4 p.m. and Saturdays at 11:30 a.m., will be hosted by Metro Sports anchor Brad Porter.

"We're proud to renew our association with the Wizards and Major League Soccer," Porter said. "Being involved with the team on a regular basis will allow us to continue to build our relationship and be a part of the exciting revival of the Wizards under new ownership and new leadership. I'm looking forward to being there every step of the way as this team builds a foundation towards another championship."

The half-hour show will feature an opening segment with Wizards Head Coach Curt Onalfo, where Porter and Onalfo will analyze the previous week's match and upcoming opponents, and discuss prominent storylines in soccer around the country. In addition, different players will be in-studio to discuss the latest news both on and off the field.

"This show is a great chance for Wizards fans to gain insight into our team and how we approach the game of soccer and the season," Onalfo said. "We'll try and make the show as informative as possible and show fans how personable our players are."

Following the theme of the 2007 season, both the Wizards and Metro Sports will give fans a chance to get closer than ever to the players, both on and off the field, as well as their stories and personalities. In addition, the Wizards Community Relations and Marketing Departments will team up to provide footage and interesting tidbits from recent Wizards player appearances at events around the city.

"This show will be a departure from what most viewers would consider a coach's show," Porter said. "While this show will cover the technical aspects of the game, we will emphasize the entertainment value of soccer, as well as give the viewers a chance to get the know the players and coaches both personally and professionally."

This week's guests will include Onalfo and Wizards defender Jose Burciaga, Jr.
