Wizards midfielder Kerry Zavagnin said the months since the club was put up for sale have been difficult for the squad.


"I think collectively as an organization we lost our identity a little bit," Zavagnin said. "Lamar Hunt has done a fantastic job of building this organization and once it was put up for sale I think we all felt, I guess, just a sense of uncertainty. And I think that created a little disharmony both on and off the field."


The players were introduced to the new ownership group before training on Thursday and were treated to some drawings of the proposed stadium.


The announcement was especially sweet for 21-year-old midfielder Will John, who was born and raised in Overland Park.


"I could have never dreamed that anything like this could happen and especially in the place I was born in," John said. "I'm glad that it's done and it's over with and that we will be here in Overland Park. It's just a weight off our shoulders just to know that you are going to Philadelphia or some other place. They want to keep it here and that's the plan. We all like that."
