Wizards 4, Revolution 3 -- quote sheet

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS 4, NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION 3

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION HEAD COACH STEVE NICOL

On the game:
"I think we made bad decisions, which led to us losing the ball and then giving them the chance to break on us and do what they did more than anything. But, in the second half we dominated and got the equalizer. Maybe you could say we deserved something from the game. The effort was huge. I have no problem with the effort. We had a bad night and we have to move on."

On Revolution forward Pat Noonan's performance:
"We need to get him more time and as much strength as we can. Pat's (Noonan) missed a lot over the last 12 months. He's lost a lot of time on the field and that doesn't come back in a couple of weeks or days, it takes time. He's getting there."

On the bench when Michael Parkhurst, Steve Ralston and Taylor Twellman leave for national team duty:
"Well to start, I thought the guys that came on did real well. I thought (Wells) Thompson did well, (Adam) Cristman did well. It's going to give people a chance to shine. We can kill ourselves and complain about it, but you can look at it the opposite way and be positive and say that it gives people a chance. Something may pop up that you didn't expect. That's how you've got to approach it."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION MIDFIELDER JEFF LARENTOWICZ

On the game:
"It is difficult going up two goals, then giving up three unanswered. It forced us to make a great run in the second half, but then giving up the late goal deflated us. This is definitely a tough pill to swallow."

On why this game will be difficult to deal with for the team:
"It is completely uncharacteristic for this team to play like we did, especially at home. I think everyone was prepared coming in but the things we did on the field didn't really add up and they capitalized. Their speed hurt us in the end."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION MIDFIELDER STEVE RALSTON

On where the team dropped its guard in the match:
"The first goal really hurt us. I don't think we were playing particularly well even having a 2-0 lead, and it showed when they score three unanswered goals in 20 minutes. To say we are disappointed as a team right now is an understatement. If we score three goals at home, we have to win."

On the impact of the result:
"I hope this will be a wakeup call. We know we can't go through the whole season getting results like we have, and there are going to be games like this. It just wasn't there tonight, and we have to be better passing the ball to feet. What it comes down to is that we just did not get the job done."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS HEAD COACH CURT ONFALO

On the game:
"I was really pleased with our performance even though we were down 2-0. To our guys' credit they did a great job regrouping, getting the first one back, getting the second one back and the third. And then we found a way to win the game in the end."

On playing the Revolution:
"Give credit to New England because they are such a good team offensively that you can never really relax. When you have guys like (Taylor) Twellman, (Pat) Noonan and (Steve) Ralston, three of the better attacking players in the league."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS FORWARD DAVY ARNAUD

On coming back after trailing 2-0:
"Going on the road and trailing early 2-0, I mean this is a tough place to play. I was really impressed on the way we came back. We scored two goals pretty quick and got the third before half. I think it showed a lot about our character."

On missing several starters to injury:
"We feel like we have a pretty deep team. When we have guys who go down, we know we have other guys who can step up and get the job done. And those guys certainly did tonight."

On his goal:
"Sasha (Victorine) played a perfect ball to the middle. I just played it off my chest, hit it with the outside of my foot and shot it underneath (Matt Reis) as he was coming out. It really was a great ball by Sasha."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS FORWARD EDDIE JOHNSON

On the game winning goal:
"It was a great ball by (Carlos) Marinelli. I started wide, came back in, crossed the defense and slipped the ball behind the defense. I was either going to go wide or one time it. (Matt) Reis came out, got big and I had to take that touch around him to get it in."

On playing the 3-5-2 formation:
"We knew the game was going to open up in the second half. Our team matches up well with a 3-5-2, really well, because we've got a lot of speed going forward. We knew there would be a lot of speed out wide."

On the game and playing the Revolution:
"I couldn't have asked for my first hat trick against a better team. This team is at the top of the league and has been playing extremely well. I knew it would be tough and just stayed into it mentally. When I got my chances, I just made the best of them."
