Win, draw in split-squad scrimmages

Jimmy Conrad found the net for the first team in their draw with the Argentinean side.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina - The Kansas City Wizards played two scrimmages against Argentinean side Defensa & Justicia on Saturday, with the reserves squaring off at 10 a.m. and the first team playing at noon.


The reserves ended the first half against the Argentinean second division squad with a score of 0-0. Midfielder Edson Elcock scored a goal in the first half, but it was ruled offsides. During the second half, the reserves looked sharper and defender Ryan Raybould scored the lone goal of the game off a penalty kick in the 63rd minute. The match ended with a 1-0 victory for the reserves.


The first team began play at noon and looked sharp and organized throughout the match. Forward Scott Sealy scored a goal in the 10th minute that was ruled offsides. Defender Jimmy Conrad also had two open-look headers off of corner kicks in the first half, but failed to score. Defensa & Justicia scored the first goal of the game in the 18th minute, and Kansas City answered with a goal from Conrad in the 22nd minute off of midfielder Jack Jewsbury's free kick. The Wizards ended the match with a 1-1 draw.
