West's best Colorado host Chivas

Jesse Marsch's goal led the Chivas three-goal comeback vs. United who now focus on Colorado.

obviously he got himself in a good spot to score the first goal. He was pretty solid."
• Said Marsch: "To be honest, I wasn't that thrilled about it but at this point we are so depleted I just wanted to do whatever I could to help the team win. If Preki felt that that was our best option then I was willing to do that."
• But at halftime, Chivas went back to their trademark 4-4-2 system, and Marsch said it settled the team down.
• "I think once we switched in the second half, it kind of felt a little bit like ourselves. Having Paulo and myself in the middle has been a foundation for more than a year," he said. "It wasn't like the first half was that bad but I just made one bad mistake and it cost us a goal."
• Said Preki: "I felt it was too much for some of the younger guys to figure out -- how do we go back, how do we play, how do we put the ball on the ground and the way to pass the ball, the way I wanted them to pass the ball. But in the second half we changed it. I felt that just in any moment we were going to create an opportunity or two and we would put it away."
• With his appearance, Jesse Marsch played in his 316th career MLS match (league and cup), moving into 10th place all-time in U.S. professional soccer history, dating back to 1921.
• Chivas went into the match missing their entire first-choice back four -- fullbacks Jonathan Bornstein and Lawson Vaughn are out until late June, while Claudio Suarez and Shavar Thomas are nursing nagging hamstring injuries. About the only constants from last season have been goalkeeper Brad Guzan and midfielders Marsch and Paulo Nagamura, all of whom have played in every game this season.
• "At this point with the injuries we have, guys have to step up. Guys have to play out of position and do what's best for the team," Guzan said. "We're doing that and luckily it has paid off."
• The club had come from behind to draw 15 games in club history but had never won a game in which Chivas USA trailed at any point during a match. Five times this season Chivas USA had surrendered the first goal and the club had an 0-4-1 mark to show for it.
• "Now is an important time," midfielder Sacha Kljestan said. "We've moved a few points closer to first place and it's a time where if we win two or three games in a row we can put ourselves in first place just with how the Western Conference has been going so far. We've just got to play with confidence right now."
