New Wizards Forwards Claudio Lopez, Ivan Trujillo Will be Available to Media Members Following Training Tuesday


The Kansas City Wizards begin training in Kansas City Tuesday, March 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the team's Swope Park Training Center. Newly signed forwards Claudio Lopez of Argentina and Ivan Trujillo of Columbia will be available to Kansas City media members for the first time immediately following practice. A translator will be available for English-speaking media members.

Wizards to Conclude Pre-season Schedule Saturday in Saturn Challenge Cup
Saturday, the Wizards will take part in the Saturn Challenge Cup, a doubleheader on the campus of the University of Oklahoma against Real Salt Lake and Southern Methodist University. The first team will face RSL at 6 p.m. CT, with the reserves playing SMU at 8 p.m. For tickets to the match in Norman, click here.


The Wizards participated in the inaugural Saturn Challenge Cup in 2006, defeating FC Dallas 1-0 on a Scott Sealy strike.

Kansas City Wizards go 5-1-2 on Argentina Trip
The Wizards wrapped-up 18 days of training in Buenos Aires, Argentina last Friday with a 3-0 loss to Argentine first division club LP Estudiantes. Kansas City went 5-1-2 on the trip, including wins over Velez Sarsfield, River Plate and San Lorenzo of the Argentine first division. The Wizards are currently 6-3-4 during pre-season training with two tune-up matches on Saturday.

Kansas City Wizards to Hold Meet-and-Greet Thursday at Dave & Buster's in KCK
The Kansas City Wizards will host a meet-and-greet event for players, staff, season ticket holders and other fans Thursday, March 20 at Dave & Buster's at The Legends in KCK. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. for season ticket holders and open to the general public at 6:30 p.m.


Fans will be able to compete against and with players for prizes at various arcade games. Televisions will also be tuned to the NCAA tournament, and fans will have the opportunity to challenge Wizards midfielder Kerry Zavagnin in a tournament bracket challenge. Those who beat Zavagnin's bracket will be entered into a drawing for a jersey autographed by Zavagnin himself.


Wizards to Hold Media Day on March 26
Kansas City will host its media day on Wednesday, March 26 from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. at CommunityAmerica Ballpark by The Legends in Kansas City, Kan. The event will start with a complimentary lunch that features the Wizards new menu of foods consistent with the team's mantra The World's Game...Kansas City's Team.


Following lunch, Technical Director Peter Vermes and Head Coach Curt Onalfo will speak with media members, and players will be available for interviews. Interactive soccer-related games will be set up, and all media in attendance will receive a Wizards gift pack and a copy of the 2008 Media Guide.

Single-game tickets to all Kansas City Wizards home matches, excluding the game against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sept. 13, are now on sale. Individual tickets for the Los Angeles Galaxy game will go on sale at a later date. Fans are encouraged to buy full or partial season ticket packages to ensure a ticket to that match regardless of venue.
