HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Dynamo earned its second tie in the last three games, drawing at 1 goal apiece against the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium.
In what was a must-win game for both teams, Dwayne De Rosario opened up the scoreboard for Houston at the 54th minute, with a solid kick from outside the box. Houston dominated the game from there on, but was unable to stop Columbus' efforts toward the end. At the 80th minute, Jason Garey took advantage of a free kick from the left side of the field to put the ball away with a header. That was the third goal of the season for Garey.
With the tie, Houston (10-8-11) slips to third place in the Western Conference, with 41 points with only three games remaining in the regular season. FC Dallas, which already clinched a spot in the playoffs, continues to lead with 49 points, followed by Chivas USA, with 42.
