Weekly update: Two-match week

Carson, Calif. - Chivas USA (5-5-1, 16 pts.) will play the Colorado Rapids (5-4-2, 17 pts.) this Wednesday, June 21st at INVESCO Field in Mile High Stadium in Denver at 6:30 p.m. PT (7:30 CT). The game will be televised by FSN PRIME TICKET, by radio in KTNQ 1020 AM Univision Radio and on line by MLSlive.tv. Chivas USA arrives to the game in fourth place trailing the Rapids who are currently in third place.


CREW ARE NEXT: After the Denver match, Chivas USA will get ready to face the Columbus Crew (4-6-2, 14 pts.). The game will be played at Crew Stadium in the city of Columbus on Saturday, June 24 at 4:30 p.m. PT (7:30 p.m. local time). The match will also be televised by PRIME TICKET, by radio in KTNQ 1020 AM Univision Radio and on line by MLSlive.tv


LAST GAME: Chivas USA beat the Columbus Crew 2-0 this past Sunday at The Home Depot Center. A goal by Ante Razov in the

10th minute and another by Juan Pablo García in the 85th minute gave the Red-and-White their fourth victory in five games. The fans were out to support Chivas USA; a crowd of 12,293 fans attended the game.


CHANGE OF GAME: Due to the match between América and San Luís, the July 21st game between Chivas USA and the Colorado Rapids has been moved. The double-header will put two giants of Mexican soccer on the field when Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Pavel Pardo, and German Villa battle it out against Cristian Patiño and Christian Martinez of the San Luis Club.


HISTORY AGAINST THE COLORADO: Up to the moment, Chivas USA has one win, three losses and one tie against the Rapids. The most recent match between the two was a 4-1 victory over Colorado at The Home Depot Center last May 21st.


HISTORY AGAINST THE CREW: After three games against the Crew, Chivas USA has two wins and one loss against the Crew. After the three games, Chivas USA has scored three goals, while the Crew has scored three against Chivas as well.


RAZOV CONTINUES HIS PURSUIT OF HISTORY: Ante Razov tallied the 94th goal of his illustrious MLS career to put him in third place in the all-time MLS goalscoring list. He is now chasing Jaime Moreno, who currently holds the second spot with 102 goals. At the same time, his tenth goal of the season put him as the best goalscorer of the season and first place on Chivas USA's all-time goalscoring list.


NEXT HOME GAME: The Houston Dynamo will visit Chivas USA on June 28 as the Red-and-White honor Oswaldo Sánchez. All fans in attendance will receive a bobblehead of the Mexican goalkeeper. Houston is currently in the second spot of the Western Conference with 21 points. All the action will begin at 7:30 p.m. PT at The Home Depot Center.


WORLD CUP BOBBLEHEADS: As a tribute to the World Cup players that are now with Chivas USA, the team will give away bobbleheads in the following games at The Home Depot Center: Juan Francisco Palencia (June 5) vs. Colorado, Ramón Ramírez (June 18) vs. Columbus Crew, Oswaldo Sánchez (June 28) vs. Houston Dynamo and Claudio Suárez (July 1st) vs. FC Dallas.


CHIVAS USA VIEWING PARTIES: Cheer Claudio Suárez on and the rest of the Mexican National Team as well as the U.S. National Team as they try to advance to the second round. Chivas USA will be on hand at ESPN Zone in Anaheim for every game to bring you all the action as well as prizes, music and fun in every Mexico and U.S. match. ESPN Zone is located on 1500 Disneyland Dr. Anaheim, CA.


SUÁREZ IN THE WORLD CUP: Mexico tied 0-0 against Angola in their second game of the World Cup. The result gives Mexico four points which put Mexico in second place of Group D. Claudio Suárez didn't see any action in the match. Mexico will now face Portugal; a game that Mexico must at least tie to secure a place in the second round.


O'BRIEN IN THE WORLD CUP: John O'Brien came in as a 46th-minute substitute in the U.S.'s 3-0 loss Monday against the Czech Republic in the Americans' Group E opener. The U.S. will play Italy next on Saturday at noon PT.

VIRGIN OF MIRACLES: The Virgin of Zapopan continues her journey through Southern California. This week, the Virgin will be in the Church of Santa Lucia in Los Angeles and the Church of San Antonio in San Gabriel. The ChivaTroca will continue to transport this revered statue of the Virgin Mary through her pilgrimage in over 12 Southern California churches, which will end with a special mass at The Home Depot Center on July 15, the date of the third 'Honda Super Clasico' of 2006.


GUADALAJARA UPDATE: Chivas de Guadalajara continues to train in Manzanillo. The Red-and-White are focusin in physical aspects, especially leg exercises as well as timing and reaction exercises. Guadalajara will play their second game against Vélez Sarsfield of Argentina on July 20 when Copa Libertadores starts play once again.


BARCELONA COMING TO TOWN: UEFA Champions League winner and Spanish champion Barcelona will also be in Los Angeles August 6 to face Club Deportivo Guadalajara. Ronaldinho, Messi, Marquez and Eto'o will be among the stars that will face the Mexican squad in the doubleheader that will also include Chivas USA vs. the New England Revolution, starting at 4:00 p.m. PT. AMÉRICA UPDATE: The head coach of America, Luís Fernando Tena said in a press conference today that his team is slowly progressing. Currently, América is in Cancún doing physical training. Cuauhtémoc Blanco and the rest of Club América will take on Chivas USA on Sunday, July 23, 2006 at The Home Depot Center.


CHIVAS USA FUTBOL ACADEMY: The Chivas USA Futbol Academy continues play this week in preparation for this weekend's slate of games in Baldwin Park, with sessions at The Home Depot Center's Field 5 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday.
