Galaxy Team Notes

KIRK AND STURGIS GET THE CALL: Galaxy midfielders Quavas Kirk and Nathan Sturgis have been named to the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team roster by head coach Thomas Rongen. The pair is part of the U.S.A.'s 16-man roster that will travel to Rochester, N.Y. to face the Argentina Under-20 Men's National Team on Thursday, May 15 in preparation for this summer's U-20 World Cup.

EARLY DEBUTS: Tuesday night's Open Cup game against the Crew will be the Galaxy's earliest ever match in the U.S. Open Cup. Since first entering the competition in 1999, L.A. had never played a game prior to June 24, a date on which the club knocked off the Seattle Sounders in the Second Round of the 2000 Open Cup.

Additionally, the only time that the Galaxy have lost at the first hurdle in the Open Cup was in 2004 when the Minnesota Thunder shocked L.A. 1-0 in Minneapolis. The Galaxy are 7-1 all-time in their first Open Cup game of the year with just one of those matches coming against MLS opposition.

STADIUM OF HORRORS: Crew Stadium is the only stadium in the history of MLS in which the Galaxy have played in more than five times without recording a victory. Since opening in 1999, L.A. has gone to Columbus eight times in the regular season, compiling an 0-4-4 record while also losing once in the Open Cup. The only other stadiums that L.A. has never won in the regular season are Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. and Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas, each of which has hosted a Galaxy MLS Cup championship, as well as TOYOTA PARK in Chicago where the Galaxy are 0-2-0 all-time and Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. where L.A. has yet to play.

SUPER IN THE SUPERCLÁSICO: Saturday sees the return of the Honda SuperClásico to The Home Depot Center. L.A. has won each of the first two SuperClásico's against Chivas, outscoring them 14-4 and winning six of the eight matches. The Galaxy took the inaugural season series in 2005 by winning all four games against their in-stadium rivals and then claimed a two wins and a draw against Chivas last year to retain the title.

The Galaxy have also dominated Chivas USA in all other competitions since Chivas USA began in 2005, winning all three of the two sides' Reserve Division matches and their 2005 U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round encounter.
