RSL Heads East for Saturday's Running with the New York Red Bulls

After keeping its postseason hopes alive last weekend with a 1-0 win over its Rocky Mountain Cup rival, the Colorado Rapids, Real Salt Lake (5-13-8, 23 pts.) will next set its sights on the East Coast and a Saturday, Sept. 29, showdown against the New York Red Bulls (11-10-5, 38 pts.) in East Rutherford, NJ. Kick-off from Giants Stadium for this Saturday's contest is set for 5:30 p.m. MT, and the match can be followed live on Fox Soccer Channel (pre-game coverage begins at 5:00 p.m.) and RSL's official radio partners - KALL 700 Sports ("RSL First Kick" pre-game show at 4:30 p.m.) and "La Bonita" AM-1600.

RSL has gone 0-1-4 in a series fit to be tied across the team's first two-and-a-half seasons. However, revenge will be on the Utah club's mind after it suffered the worst defeat in team history, a 6-0 drubbing at Giants Stadium during its last visit on August 26, 2006. The two squads dueled to a dramatic 3-3 draw earlier this season at Rice-Eccles Stadium on May 5, as Chris Brown's equalizer in added time salvaged a 3-3 draw for Real Salt Lake in Jason Kreis' head coaching debut.

Javier Morales' Stunning Free Kick up for MLS Goal of the Week Honor

Real Salt Lake MF Javier Morales' first career MLS goal last Wednesday not only brought the match against Los Angeles to a 2-2 draw, but the 86th minute effort also earned the Argentinean playmaker a nod as one of five nominees for this week's Sierra Mist MLS Goal of the Week award. The perfectly placed 25-yard free kick off the right foot of Morales is part of a crop of this season's strongest competition for the honor, which RSL fans are encouraged to vote on by visiting www.MLSnet.com by Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. MT. Morales is looking to join a pair of previous RSL winners this season - Chris Brown (Week 5) and Robbie Findley (Week 18).

Williams and Jimenez Tonight's Guests on the "Jerry Seiner RSL Coach's Corner"

A pair of RSL midfielders, Andy Williams and Christian Jimenez, will join Head Coach Jason Kreis as tonight's guests on the "Jerry Seiner RSL Coach's Corner" on the radio home of Real Salt Lake, KALL 700 Sports. The voice of Real Salt Lake, Bill Riley, will host the show on location this evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. MT at the Iceberg Café at the Jerry Seiner Downtown Salt Lake GM Dealership (1530 South 500 West) in Salt Lake City. As always, fans are encouraged to head down and ask their questions to the RSL trio in person while enjoying the Iceberg Café's delicious dining fare.

Over $2,000 Raised from RSL's Peruvian Earthquake Benefit Game

The Real Salt Lake family would like to thank everyone both on and off the field that made last Wednesday's Peruvian Earthquake Benefit Game following the RSL-Galaxy match at Rice-Eccles Stadium a great success. Through ticket purchases via the Latin American Chamber of Commerce and the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; individual donors; and the event's silent auction; Real Salt Lake was able to donate $2,150 to the Peruvian Government to help victims suffering from the 8.0 magnitude earthquake on August 15 that caused more than 500 deaths and left several thousands of Peruvians without food and shelter. According to the Peruvian Consulate, just $20 will provide one of its citizens with enough food, clothing, blankets, and water for four weeks.

In the game, a talented team consisting of former South American-based players defeated the "RSL Family" squad 4-2 in the 40-minute affair. RSL would like to extend a special thanks to MLS Fan development Manager Wilmer Cabrera, legendary Salvadorian playmaker Mauricio Cienfuegos, and former U.S. international Marcelo Balboa for their participation in the exhibition.
