The Crew returns to action at home this Sunday, July 22, against Toronto FC at Crew Stadium. Columbus (5-5-7, 22 pts.) is coming off a 2-1 setback at Chivas USA on Saturday, July 14, which ended a season-long six-game unbeaten streak (4-0-2). Columbus remains in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings, just four points behind first-place New England. Toronto (5-7-4, 19 pts.) is coming off a scoreless draw at Houston on Sunday.


Sunday's match, which kicks off at 5 p.m., will be televised live locally on CSN, with Dwight Burgess and Dante Washington calling all the action, Katie Witham reporting from the sidelines and Dionne Miller hosting the 30-minute pregame show. The game can be heard live in English on The Brew @ 105.7 and on-line on TheCrew.com and MLSNet.com, with Neil Sika and John Bluem behind the microphone, as well as in Spanish on Radio Sol WXOL 1550-AM, with Marcelo Carrera, Eduardo "Eddie" Carvacho and Benny Pietrangelo on the call.


The Crew and Toronto meet for the second of three times this season and for the second and final time at Crew Stadium. The teams played to a 2-2 draw in Columbus on May 26 - with Andy Herron scoring both Crew goals - and will meet again in Ontario, for the first time ever, on Sept. 22. Expansion-club Toronto is Major League Soccer's newest club and is now the Crew's second-most proximate geographic rival, after Chicago.


In Saturday's game at Chivas, Guillermo Barros Schelotto notched his team-leading seventh assist of the season, good for second in the league, a corner kick to the head of Stefani Migliorani that tied the game at 1-1 in the first half. The deciding goal was and an own-goal in the 69th minute.

CREW STADIUM SOLD TO CAPACITY FOR SEPT. 30 GAME VS. L.A., AUXILIARY SEATING TO BE ADDED IN SOUTH END

Crew Stadium's permanent capacity has been sold in its entirety for the Crew's Sept. 30 match against the Los Angeles Galaxy and auxiliary seating will be added in the facility's south end to help accommodate the extraordinary demand for tickets, which is being driven primarily by the anticipated appearance of global superstar David Beckham. The exact number of seats to be added has not yet been determined, but they are already being sold as part of a $60 three-game package that also includes a ticket to any other two games. CREW UNDER-17 ALL-STARS ADVANCE TO TONIGHT'S SEMIFINALS OF SUM U-17 CUP IN COLORADO

The Crew advanced to the semifinals of the inaugural SUM U-17 Cup in Commerce City, Colo., Monday, with a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids. The Crew qualified as the second-place team with the best record, along with three group winners, and will face the Kansas City Wizards Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET. The Crew went 2-0-1 in group play, tying D.C. United, 2-2, and defeating Real Salt Lake, 2-1. Soccer United Marketing's inaugural Youth Development soccer tournament kicked off on Friday, July 13, at the soccer complex at Dick's Sporting Goods Park and is being held in conjunction with the 2007 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game. The tournament features 12 MLS U-17 Youth Development teams and will culminate in the championship game on the Dick's Sporting Goods Park stadium field the morning of Thursday, July 19, at 12 Noon ET. The 12-team pool is comprised of the U-17 teams of all MLS clubs excluding Toronto FC and the New England Revolution and with two teams representing the Colorado Rapids. The champion will take home the SUM U-17 Cup and earns the opportunity to participate in the 2008 Torneo Quixote in Spain. The tournament finalists will be invited to watch the MLS All-Stars training session at Dick's Sporting Goods Park stadium field on Wednesday, July 18 as they prepare to face Celtic FC in the 2007 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game. The tournament is being hosted at no cost to all participants as Soccer United Marketing and participating MLS Teams are covering the costs of player travel, accommodations and other tournament-related expenses.


U.S. FALLS TO AUSTRIA IN QUARTERFINALS, SZETELA FINISHES U-20 WORLD CUP WITH THREE GOALS

The U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team lost to Austria, 2-1, in the quarterfinals of the FIFA Under-20 World in Toronto, ending an impressive campaign that saw the team score 12 goals in five games. Josmer Altidore scored his team-leading fourth goal for the U.S. in the losing effort. Crew forward Danny Szetela finished the tournament with thee goals and teammate Robbie Rogers had two assists. Defender Tim Ward was also a member of the squad. A 105th minute goal in the first overtime period from Erwin Hoffer held up as the game-winner, as Austria will advance to face the winner of the Spain vs. Czech Republic quarterfinal. The U.S. opened the scoring in the 15th minute, when Freddy Adu received the ball wide and played a perfect cross right to the head of Altidore, who put it past Austrian goalkeeper Michael Zaglmair, who got a hand on the ball, but couldn't keep it out of the net. With the U.S. controlling play for most of the rain-dampened first half, Austria responded in the 43rd minute to change the face of the match. The U.S. finished the tournament with an impressive 3-1-1 record in a five-game run through the quarterfinals, but ultimately fell short of qualifying for the Under-20 World Cup semifinals for the second time in their history (1989, Saudi Arabia). For the U.S., the tournament was highlighted by winning their group competition for the third consecutive event, with victories over Brazil and Poland, and a tie against the Korea Republic.


FIFTH ANNUAL COPA VICTORIA TOURNAMENT CONTNUES AT CREW TRAINING CENTER AT OBETZ

In partnership with Roush Honda, Budweiser and adidas, the Crew's fifth annual Copa Victoria adult Hispanic soccer tournament kicked off on June 16 at the Crew Training Center at Obetz. The 24-team, single-elimination tournament resumes on July 28 and concludes with the championship game at Crew Stadium prior to the Crew's game vs. D.C. United on Saturday, Aug. 18. An additional tournament match day is scheduled for Aug. 4 at the Crew Training Center, which is located at 4153 Alum Creek Drive in Obetz. All matches are free and open to the public. On Saturday, May 26, the Crew and representatives from participating leagues held the official tournament draw in the Stadium Club at Crew Stadium. Team managers and all 480 players from the 24 participating teams were invited to attend the unveiling of the tournament bracket, and were later treated to the Crew's game against Toronto FC along with $10 in food vouchers compliments of Roush Honda, Budweiser and adidas. Tournament standings, pairings, rules and information will be posted on the Crew's official Web site, www.thecrew.com, and in other print media. The winner of the tournament will be awarded the championship trophy at halftime of the Aug. 18 Crew game.


DON'T MISS 'CREW CORNER' THURSDAYS AT 6 and 6:30 p.m. ON CSN
The Columbus Sports Network (CSN) produces and airs a weekly magazine show dedicated solely to the Crew, called 'Crew Corner.' Hosted by Dionne Miller, the 30-minute program is refreshed each week with compelling content that is unique and dynamic, including "behind the scenes" perspectives and profiles about players, coaches and team officials; glimpses into the teams' participation in a variety of community and charitable activities; and game and league highlights. Each episode of 'Crew Corner' will air first on Thursdays at 6 p.m., and be replayed immediately afterward at 6:30 p.m. In addition, every show will be replayed repeatedly at different times throughout the following seven days to make it conveniently available to fans.
