Galaxy Team Notes

COBI HITS 300/90 MARK: Galaxy midfielder Cobi Jones hit two historical marks by playing in his 300th career regular season match, as well as registering his 90th assist on Sunday as the club defeated FC Dallas 2-1. The 37-year old earned his 90th assist by serving a cross from the left flank across the top of the box for Chris Klein, who thrashed a right-footed shot past goalkeeper Dario Sala to give LA the win.

Since the inaugural 1996 season, Jones has appeared in 300 games for the Galaxy, scoring 70 goals and adding 90 assists. Jones, who has said that he will retire after the 2007 season, now joins Steve Ralston, Chris Henderson and Jason Kreis as the only players in league history to have appeared in 300 or more regular season games, and joins Ralston, Carlos Valderrama, Preki and Marco Etcheverry as the only players with league history with 90 or more assists.

HARMSE SUSPENDED: Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Kevin Harmse will serve a mandatory one-game suspension during the club's next regular season match, against the Kansas City Wizards on Thursday, due to an accumulation of yellow cards. The Canadian international was booked in the 21st minute for a foul on Chris Gbandi in the club's 2-1 victory over FC Dallas. It was his sixth yellow card of the year.

KLEIN EARNS GOAL OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Chris Klein's game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory against FC Dallas has been nominated for Sierra Mist Goal of the Week. The goal, which was Klein's third in a Galaxy uniform, was his first for the club in MLS competition since being traded to LA in mid-June. Klein took a pass from Cobi Jones and blasted the ball into the upper right corner of the net just out of FC Dallas keeper Dario Sala's reach, giving his squad a 2-1 victory.

CANNON GETS 80: Los Angeles Galaxy goalkeeper Joe Cannon recorded his 80th career regular season win on Sunday, making three saves, in a 2-1 win over FC Dallas at The Home Depot Center. The two-time MLS Goalkeeper of the Year has appeared in 210 career regular season matches, compiling a 1.31 goals against average (GAA). For his career, Cannon ranks in the top five in MLS history in wins, saves and shutouts.
