GALAXY SET TO DEFEND U.S. OPEN CUP TITLE AGAINST ROMA FC ON TUESDAY:
The Los Angeles Galaxy, the defending 2005 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup champions, will open their run in the 2006 edition of the U.S. Open Cup with a fourth round match against Dallas Roma FC of the U.S. Adult Soccer Association (USASA) on Tuesday, August 1 at 7:30 pm in The Home Depot Center's Track and Field Complex on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills. Following the match, members of the Galaxy will sign autographs from the field for fans in attendance. Tickets will be general admission and cost $10 for Adults and $5 for Youths (16 and under) and are available by calling the Galaxy toll-free at 1-877-3GALAXY. All Galaxy full Season Ticket Holders will receive complimentary tickets for this U.S. Open Cup match. Parking will be $10 on the day of the match at The Home Depot Center.

DONOVAN AND ALBRIGHT HEADED TO CHICAGO FOR 2006 MLS ALL-STAR VS. CHELSEA FC: Landon Donovan and Chris Albright of the Los Angeles Galaxy are headed to the 2006 MLS All-Star as part of the First XI team. Donovan, Albright and the rest of the MLS All-Stars will take on English Premier League champion Chelsea FC in the 2006 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game on Saturday, Aug. 5 at TOYOTA PARK in Bridgeview, Ill. The game will be televised live on ESPN at 6:30 p.m. ET. Donovan, who currently has a strained left hamstring is questionable for the All-Star Game, leads the Galaxy this season with four goals and five assists despite missing time while with the United States National Team at the FIFA World Cup. He is making his sixth-straight Sierra Mist All-Star Game appearance. Donovan has been selected to the All-Star game every year of his MLS career, and received the most fan votes of any MLS player in 2006. Galaxy defender Albright is making his third straight trip to the Sierra Mist All-Star Game. Albright has a goal and an assist in 10 games for L.A. in 2006, while also spending time with the U.S. World Cup team. The Galaxy joins the New England Revolution as the only teams to place two players on the First XI roster.


GALAXY FANTASY CAMP II BEGINS AUGUST 14: The Los Angeles Galaxy's second Fantasy Camp of the year will be held from August 14 - 18 at the Mecca of Soccer in the United States, The Home Depot Center. Applications are now being accepted. This unbelievable experience for children ages 8-14 includes five days of training at the home to the Men's and Women's US National teams. The fantasy soccer camp is geared towards youth soccer that first and foremost want to have FUN and players who want to learn to play their best while learning what it is like to be a Galaxy player. They will put each fantasy camper through a variety of skills and drills in which their speed and agility are tested. Every camper will come away many new ideas, skills and drills and will understand the importance of having fun every time they step on the field. Adults can get into the game too, so join us for the second annual Galaxy Adult Soccer Fantasy Camp, where you will learn what it is like to train like a professional soccer player. STURGIS UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL HERNIA SURGERY IN GERMANY: Galaxy defender Nathan Sturgis underwent successful surgery on Tuesday, July 25 in Munich, Germany to repair a "sports hernia" injury. Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck will perform a Minimal Repair Technique, a procedure developed and performed exclusively by Dr. Muschaweck. He is expected to need 2-3 weeks to recover.
