Galaxy Team Notes

GORDON OPENS GOAL ACCOUNT: Alan Gordon scored his first goal in MLS play this season on Saturday night, beating Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando with a first half header in the Galaxy's 2-1 loss. After missing the first three and a half months of the season while recovering from surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot, Gordon scored three times in SuperLiga but had been unable to score in his first six regular season appearances for the club.

For the season, Gordon has appeared in seven games, making five starts and collecting one goal. He played in all five of the club's SuperLiga contests, scoring three goals to finish second in the tournament in goals scored and also appeared in both games at the 2007 World Series of Football.

CRONIN MAKES 2007 DEBUT: Galaxy goalkeeper Steve Cronin made his 2007 regular season debut against Real Salt Lake on Saturday night. Cronin, who had appeared in all three of the Galaxy's Open Cup matches, as well as the friendly against Rangers in May, made six saves in the 2-1 loss at The Home Depot Center. This was the sixth start of Cronin's MLS career and his second against Real Salt Lake.

With Cronin getting the starting nod on Saturday, Joe Cannon saw his run of being the only Galaxy player to play every minute of every regular season game this season come to an end. Cannon played the full 90 minutes in each of the club's first 18 regular season games.

DONOVAN CALLED UP TO NATIONAL TEAM: On Monday, LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan was called up to the U.S. National Team for their match against Brazil in Chicago on Sunday. The Galaxy's leading scorer is one of five MLS players in the 19-man squad for the match against the five-time World Cup champions. Donovan flew to the Windy City following the Galaxy's game against Real Salt Lake on Saturday and began training with the National Team on Tuesday. He will miss the Galaxy's game against Colorado on Saturday and will return to LA after the match against Brazil.

While in Chicago, Donovan will throw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field prior to the game between the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers. Later in the evening, Donovan is scheduled to be a guest of ESPN in their broadcast booth, speaking with the broadcasters, including former Dodger great Orel Hershisher, during the game.

GLINTON TIED FOR THE TOP: With his two goals for the Galaxy Reserves in the 4-2 win over Real Salt Lake on Sunday, Gavin Glinton has moved into a tie for first place in Reserve Division goals this season with four.
