Real Salt Lake to Make Lone Trek of Season to Toronto FC Saturday

Real Salt Lake (1-1-1, 4 pts.) will look to build on its first win of the 2008 campaign this Saturday, April 19, when Utah's side will take its lone trip north of the border this season to face Toronto FC (1-2-0, 3 pts.) at BMO Field, with an early kick-off set for 10:45 a.m. MT. RSL will have the unenviable task of being Toronto FC's guest for the Reds' 2008 debut at the raucous BMO Field, a match that can be followed live on the MLS Direct Kick (DirecTV, DishNet & InDemand) and MLSLIVE.tv (internet) pay-per-view packages and over the radio airwaves on KALL 700 Sports (English) - with pre-game coverage beginning with RSL First Kick at 9:45 a.m. - and Ke Buena 1600 AM (Spanish).rsl

Real Salt Lake went 0-1-1 against Toronto FC during the Canadian club's Inaugural season last year, the Reds earning their first-ever MLS road win on July 4 via a 1-0 triumph at Rice-Eccles Stadium before RSL countered by gaining a point out of a scoreless draw at BMO Field on Sept. 15, a match in which RSL played a man down for the last 55 minutes.

Espíndola's First Tally of Season up for Sierra Mist Goal of the Week

For the second week in a row a Real Salt Lake striker is up for the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week honor, and this time it's FW Fabian Espíndola representing RSL with his clinical 19th minute finish from last Saturday's 4-0 drubbing of D.C. United at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The Argentine striker collected his first goal of the 2008 season after settling MF Dema Kovalenko's lofted ball at the top of the penalty area with his first touch and following with a low blast on his next touch that was too tough for United 'keeper Jose Carvallo to handle. Fans can visit www.MLSnet.com through Wednesday morning to vote for Espindola's goal, which is up against strikes from Sacha Kljestan, Jeff Cunningham, Arturo Alvarez, and Nick LaBrocca.

RSL Rewind: RSL Records Historic 4-0 Win over D.C. United

A pair of goals from MF Kyle Beckerman and one each from forwards Fabian Espíndola and Robbie Findley helped Real Salt Lake notch not only its first win of the 2008 campaign last Saturday in a 4-0 drubbing of D.C. United at Rice-Eccles Stadium, but also the largest win in the club's four-year history in MLS play. Beckerman's 12th minute blast would eventually stand as the game-winner, but Espindola's opportunistic strike seven minutes later would give RSL a lead that looked more insurmountable as the minutes passed, thanks to an RSL defensive effort that allowed GK Nick Rimando to face only three shots on his goal en route to his 44th career clean sheet. Beckerman all but ended things with his second of the night in the 78th minute, while Findley opened his '08 scoring account three minutes from time, making D.C. pay for a defensive mistake in its penalty area with an open net header.
