Weekly Update: Galaxy train for First Kick

CARSON, Calif. - The LA Galaxy's season opener is just 11 days away and the club will continue their preparations at home this week ahead of their trip to take on the Colorado Rapids on March 29. The club will train four times this week at The Home Depot Center, including once for the public on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. This is Ruud Gullit and Co.'s first chance to spend an entire week in Southern California since the middle of February and the Galaxy coach will be looking to put the final touches on his team.


The Galaxy begin their season on the road but return home just five days later when they open the home portion of the schedule against the San Jose Earthquakes at The Home Depot Center on Thursday, April 3. There are only a limited number of tickets remaining for this game as the Galaxy host their longtime Northern California rivals in their return to Major League Soccer. Tickets to this game and all other Galaxy home matches are on sale now, starting at just $15.


Galaxy Team Notes

FAN FEST TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY:
The Galaxy's third annual Fan Fest will be held at The Home Depot Center on Saturday, starting at 10:30 a.m. This event, which serves as the official kickoff to the 2008 season, will give Galaxy fans the chance to see their team train, compete in a series of interactive games, win prizes based on the level of their Galaxy fandom, purchase authentic Galaxy gear at the club's equipment sale and much more! And best of all, this event is free and open to everybody.


Fan Fest is annually one of the most well received days for fans as it gives them a chance to meet and interact with their favorite Galaxy players and coaches prior to the start of the new season. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. and a complete schedule of the days' events can be found at www.lagalaxy.com.


SINGLE GAME TICKETS ON SALE NOW:
The start of the 2008 MLS season is just a few weeks away and now Galaxy fans can purchase single game tickets to all 15 Galaxy home games. Single game ticket prices start at just $15, giving fans in the Southland one of the best sports and entertainment values around.


Prices for 2008 Galaxy single game tickets are as follows: Fieldside ($275 per ticket), Club ($150 per ticket), Sideline ($80 per ticket), Corner ($50 per ticket), 200 (C) Level ($42 per ticket), Endline ($36 per ticket), General Admission ($25 per ticket) and 200 (W) Level ($15 per ticket).


The 2008 season kicks off at home on Thursday, April 3 when the Galaxy host their Northern California rival San Jose Earthquakes. Tickets are going fast for the first meeting between these two long-time rivals so fans should be sure to buy their tickets today.


FAMILY FOUR PACKS NOW AVAILABLE:
As a special bonus for families, the Galaxy will offer Family Four-Packs to five select games during the 2008 MLS season. For the low price of $99, families will receive four great seats to a Galaxy game, four hot dogs, four sodas and a parking pass. Family packs will first be offered at the Galaxy's home match with the defending MLS Cup champion Houston Dynamo on Saturday, April 19 at The Home Depot Center. This match kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

GALAXY CLÁSICO RETURNS FOR YEAR FOUR:
The fourth annual Galaxy Clásico Soccer Tournament will be held on April 26 and 27, 2008 at the San Bernardino Soccer Complex. The Clásico, one of Southern California's top adult soccer tournaments, will feature Men's and Women's Open divisions while also attracting friendly competition in the Men's Over 30 and Over 40 divisions. Each team will be guaranteed three games of play in the tournament on professionally maintained fields. There will be cash prizes in the Men's Open division, team trophies and sponsor giveaways.

REGISTRATION OPEN FOR SERIE DE CAMPEONES:
Boys aged 7-18 and girls aged 14-20 can now register for the year's first installment of the Galaxy's Serie de Campeones, which is a youth tournament that will be held four times this year. Winners of the first three tournaments will be invited to participate in the fourth tournament in November. Galaxy representatives will be on-site to scout for possible invitations to the club's developmental team, the Galaxy Rios.


The first tournament is being held at Fremont Intermediate School on March 30 and April 6. COZMO & THE EASTER BUNNY CELEBRATE WITH THE SECOND ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT:
The Los Angeles Galaxy Foundation and The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation will host the Second Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Friday, March 21 at 12:30 p.m. at The Home Depot Center. Children ages 1-10 are welcome to participate in the annual hunt, which will see Cozmo and the Easter Bunny, as well as a number of Galaxy players, entertaining the children. Special thanks to Snookies Cookies and Nestle for donating treats to this year's event.
