Weekly update: Down to Mississippi

Justin Mapp made an appearances for the U.S. national team against Ecuador.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL - The Chicago Fire departs for Jackson, Miss., this Wednesday, March 28, in advance of the team's final preseason preparation matches versus the University of Alabama-Birmingham on March 29 (3:00 p.m. CT) and Chivas USA on March 31 (7:00 p.m. CT), both to be held at M&F Bank Stadium in nearby Ridgeland, Miss. The "Men in Red" are coming off a tough stretch recently in southeastern Florida, falling 1-2 to the Honduran National Team on March 31 and dropping a 0-1 decision to Miami FC of the United Soccer Leagues on March 24. The Fire looks to change its fortunes in Mississippi, as the Chicago side will conclude preseason groundwork for a fourth consecutive year in the "Magnolia State", home of Brandon, Miss. native and Fire midfielder Justin Mapp. Tickets for the Fire-Chivas USA exhibition are $16 in advance and $20 at the gate, with advance tickets available for purchase both online at www.active.com, www.smcso.org or at any local McAllister's or M&F Bank locations. Mapp takes the field in 3-1 U.S. win over Ecuador
Fire Midfielder Justin Mapp continues his success on the domestic front, joining former Fire Head Coach Bob Bradley and the rest of the U.S. Men's National Team for its friendly test last Sunday versus Ecuador at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. The 2006 MLS Best XI selection came on in the 83rd minute for former Fire midfielder DaMarcus Beasley. Mapp will continue his U.S. squad stint for its next match on Wednesday against Guatemala at Pizza Hut Park, in Frisco, Texas before rejoining the "Men in Red" on Thursday for the team's final two exhibitions.


U.S. Men's Coach Bob Bradley named Keynote Speaker for Ninth Annual Season Kickoff Luncheon
The FireWorks for Kids Foundation (FWFK), the charitable arm of the Chicago Fire, welcomes U.S. Men's National Team Head Coach Bob Bradley as the Keynote Speaker for the Foundation's 2007 Season Kickoff Luncheon, sponsored by Ticketmaster. The luncheon will be held on Tuesday, April 3 at the Hilton Chicago, located at 720 S. Michigan Ave. in downtown Chicago, beginning at 11:00 a.m. CT. Chicago soccer fans will have the first opportunity of the year to meet their favorite Fire players and coaches, and the afternoon will be one of the few events of the season featuring the club's full roster.
