L.A. to Face Crystal Palace FC July 19 in Richmond, VA

CELEBRATE THE FOURTH WITH THE GALAXY'S FOURTH OF JULY EXTRAVAGANZA: Be a part of football and fireworks, as the Galaxy celebrate Independence Day and a Southern California tradition with one of the biggest fireworks shows west of the Mississippi powered by KBIG 104.3. Do not miss the exciting match-up as the Galaxy play the New York Red Bulls on Tuesday July 4th at 7:00 p.m. "built" by The Home Depot. Celebrate July 4 with the Galaxy, as the first 10,000 fans will receive Mystery Gift Cards courtesy of The Home Depot and mini-American flags will also be distributed. Fans can take advantage of the Galaxy Fan Loyalty Offer, where fans can purchase a ticket for the Fourth of July fireworks powered by KBIG 104.3 and reserve the same seat for the Galaxy's July 8 game against Real Salt Lake for only $10. The Galaxy-Red Bulls game will be broadcast live on FSN West and over the airwaves on CA$H 1700 AM (English) and KMXE 830 AM (Spanish).


GALAXY HOST REAL SALT LAKE PRESENTED BY RADIOSHACK, ON KOREAN HERITAGE NIGHT: The Los Angeles Galaxy cap off a busy week when it hosts Western Conference rivals Real Salt Lake on Saturday, July 8 at The Home Depot Center at 7:30 p.m. presented by RadioShack. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a special RadioShack Los Angeles Galaxy cap. July 8 is Galaxy Fan Loyalty Night, where fans can purchase a ticket for the Fourth of July fireworks powered by KBIG 104.3 and reserve the same seat for the Galaxy's game against Real Salt Lake for only $10. In conjunction with The Korea Times, the Korean World Cup Cheering Committee and the Korean National Tourism Organization, the Galaxy will also celebrate Korean Heritage Night on July 8, with a traditional Korean Sa Mul Nori music show on the South Concourse before the game and a halftime Tae Kwon Do demonstration by Master Kim and Do San Tae Kwan Do Gym. The festivities also include a special pre-game soccer match at 6:00 p.m. on Practice Field #6 featuring a team made up of member of the L.A. Korean community against a team from Tijuana, Mexico. There will be a designated Korean cheering section featuring "Red Devil" supporters, with goal line tickets available for $20 and sideline seats available for $30. MAKE YOUR GALAXY FANTASY COME TRUE: The Los Angeles Galaxy are proud to announce the second annual Galaxy youth fantasy camp at the Mecca of soccer in the U.S., The Home Depot Center. The first camp session runs from July 17 - July 21 and the second session runs from August 14 - August 18. Galaxy President & General Manager Alexi Lalas will be the special opening day guest coach. The camp runs from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and the cost is $495 per camper. The fantasy soccer camp is geared towards youth soccer that first and foremost want to have FUN and players who want to learn to play their best while learning what it is like to be a Galaxy player. FIRST WIN FOR YALLOP: Galaxy head coach Frank Yallop earned his first win as coach of the Galaxy in a 2-0 win over the Kansas City Wizards on July 1. It was the Galaxy's first win since April 29, 2006. Yallop started out his coaching career with the Galaxy with a 0-2-2 record before earning his first victory. It was Yallop's first MLS win since the 2003 MLS Cup, which the San Jose Earthquakes won 4-2 over the Chicago Fire.


YALLOP BY THE NUMBERS: Currently owning the fifth-highest winning percentage (.584) in MLS history, Yallop possesses a 42-27-20 career regular season record. Yallop's teams are an impressive 37-3-3 when scoring the first goal and the 2001 MLS Coach of the Year has never had a losing season. However, Yallop has never won a regular season game at The Home Depot Center, sporting a 0-2-2 record. Yallop and the San Jose Earthquakes did clinch the 2003 MLS Cup Championship at The Home Depot Center.


END OF A WINLESS STREAK: The Galaxy snapped its club-record ten-game winless streak on July 1 with a 2-0 victory over the Kansas City Wizards. The last time the Galaxy won was on April 29 in a 3-2 victory over Real Salt Lake. The Galaxy had an eight-game winless streak in 2003 and put together a seven-game streak in 2004. In 2005 L.A. had a five game-winless streak. The Galaxy is now 3-10-3 in 2006 and is hoping to avoid the second losing season in team history. The Galaxy endured a 9-12-9 campaign in 2003, and the team is nearing the all-time club record for most losses in a season (16) set in 1997.


GALAXY RESERVES FALL IN KANSAS CITY: The Galaxy reserve division team returned to action on July 2, dropping a 2-0 decision to the Wizards reserves behind two goals from Pasadena, Ca. native Yura Movisisyan, who broke open a scoreless with goals less than a minute apart in the 60th and 61st minute of action.


OPEN CUP CHAMPIONS LOOKING FOR RETURN TO ACTION: The defending 2005 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup champions, the Los Angeles Galaxy are set to open up play in the 2006 tournament on August 2. In the fourth round of the tournament, the Galaxy will face the winner of the Roma FC (USASA) - Chivas USA game that takes place on July 12.


GALAXY ANNOUNCE INAUGURAL GROUP LEADER CLUB: The Los Angeles Galaxy announced the club's first ever Group Leader Club, where individuals who organize large groups to attend Galaxy home games will become automatically enrolled in the club and eligible to earn incredible benefits. Group Leaders can be a part of the inaugural Galaxy Group Leader Club by bringing 20 or more people to a 2006 Galaxy regular season home game. By organizing a group of 20 people or more, Group Leaders automatically are enrolled as a Gold Level Member. Group Leaders can become Platinum Level Members by organizing a group of 50 or more people to a 2006 Galaxy match. The program, hosted by Ernesto Rubi, one of the Spanish-language voices of the Galaxy, features an in-depth look at the Galaxy and their opponent each week. L.A. TO FACE CRYSTAL PALACE FC JULY 19 IN RICHMOND, VA: The Los Angeles Galaxy will take on English club Crystal Palace FC on Wednesday, July 19 at the University of Richmond at 7:30 p.m. in Richmond, Virginia. The Galaxy will face an English team for just the second time in club history and the first time since 1997, when Los Angeles tied Aston Villa 1-1. Crystal Palace was founded in 1905 and finished the 2006 season in sixth place in the Coca-Cola League Championship, the second-highest level of English soccer, with a 21-13-12 record. Crystal Palace reached the championship play-off and nearly qualified for promotion back to the Premiership before falling 3-0 on aggregate to Watford in the semifinals. The Galaxy are expected to face a tough Crystal Palace team that boasts Republic of Ireland international Clinton Morrison (13 goals in 2006), Australian National Team defender Tony Popovic and English Under-21 National Team midfielder Ben Watson.
