Weekly update: Double Dynamo

The Houston Dynamo had to settle for hard-fought draw with the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, July 29, as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Forcing New York to play on their half of the field for much of the game, the Dynamo defense was able to limit the Red Bulls to a mere three shots for the entire match. But in the 67th minute, Amado Guevara slipped a ball to Chris Henderson, who put a kick past Pat Onstad to give New York the early advantage. The Dynamo fought back and were rewarded just three minutes later, as Ricardo Clark was tackled in the box creating a Dynamo penalty kick. Dwayne De Rosario hammered home the free kick, netting his 6th goal of the season.

Moments later, De Rosario and midfielder Danny O'Rourke became the focus of a confrontation that led to their ejection from the game. For the remainder of the match, the Dynamo created numerous scoring chances, including a header by Brian Ching that echoed off the crossbar, but the team was never able to finish.
