CHIVAS USA FALLS TO GALAXY IN ACTION-PACKED SUPER CLÁSICO

Chivas USA and the LA Galaxy faced off in the first Honda Super Clásico of the 2008 season Saturday night at The Home Depot Center. The Red-and-White fell behind 1-0 and 2-1 but fought back to tie the game twice before giving up three unanswered goals in a 5-2 loss. Sacha Kljestan scored the first goal for Chivas USA, a strike from just inside the box into the top corner that earned a Goal of the Week nomination. Also scoring for the Red-and-White was Ante Razov, who notched his 110th career regular-season goal in the losing effort. Chivas USA now sits in fourth place in the Western Conference, tied with Real Salt Lake, with a 1-3-1 (W-L-T) record.

KLJESTAN UP FOR GOAL OF THE WEEK AGAIN

Sacha Kljestan's amazing 38th-minute strike against the Galaxy is up for MLS 'Goal of the Week,' the second time the midfielder has been in the running for the award this season. Dribbling toward Los Angeles defender Abel Xavier, Kljestan cut inside and launched a shot into the top corner of the net from just inside the box. The goal was similar to the one that earned Kljestan 'Goal of the Week' honors in week three of the season, a 20-yard curling shot against Columbus on April 12. Kljestan is looking to win Sierra Mist Goal of the Week honors for the third time in his career after earning the accolade in the first week of 2007 in addition to after week three.

TEAM INJURY UPDATE

Chivas USA striker Ante Razov, who had missed several games with a calf strain suffered early in the season, scored the 110th regular-season goal of his MLS career against Los Angeles on Saturday night. Raphaël Wicky (back spasms) also returned to the squad to make a substitute appearance in the match, while Maykel Galindo left the game in the 57th minute with an apparent right thigh injury and will be further evaluated on Tuesday. Alecko Eskandarian has returned from Germany after undergoing treatment for a left groin strain.
