CHICAGO FIRE PARTNER WITH MY50 CHICAGO WPWR FOR 18 LIVE BROADCASTS


Chicago Fire President and General Manager John Guppy announced today the club has partnered with My50 Chicago WPWR-TV to televise a record 18 games over the air during the 2008 season and a new broadcast team for the telecasts. CHAD BARRETT AND DOMINIC CERVI CALLED ON U.S. OLYMPIC QUALIFYING SQUAD

Chicago Fire forward Chad Barrett and 2008 SuperDraft selection Dominic Cervi were named by U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team head coach Peter Nowak to the 20-player roster for 2008 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying in advance of the team's first game against Cuba on March 11 at 7:00 p.m. CT. The match against Cuba will be held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. The team arrived in Tampa yesterday after a nine-day training camp in Bradenton, Fla.


CHICAGO FIRE ACADEMY UNDEFEATED THROUGH MARCH 8

The Chicago Fire Academy teams remained undefeated following two draws with the U.S. National teams on Saturday, March 8. Kyle Spoo scored his third goal of the season for the U-16 team in the 51st minute of play for against the U.S. U-17 National Team in a 1-1 tie. Goalkeeper Charles Lyon recorded five saves, including three one-on-one saves to keep the squad undefeated with a 4-0-1 record. For the U-18 team, goalkeeper Kit Carson recorded four saves to preserve a 0-0 shutout draw with the U.S. U-17 National Team, with the team tallying three shots on goal in the match. The U-18s remain undefeated with a record of 2-0-3 on the season. Both Fire Academy teams return to action this weekend playing on March 15 vs. Metro United and March 16 vs. Scott Gallagher Soccer Club.
