Viana recovered, returns to Osasuna

Viana has been villified in Pamplona since joining Osasuna on a one-year loan from Valencia.

PAMPLONA - Osasuna midfielder Hugo Viana has been given the all-clear to return to action after recovering from a broken foot.

The Portugal international has been sidelined since suffering a broken metatarsal in his right foot during the first day of pre-season training in late July, not long after joining the club on a one-year loan from Valencia.

It was initially feared the 24-year-old would be sidelined for up to four months, but he has recovered quicker than expected and he received the green light from the Osasuna medical staff on Wednesday after taking part in group training.

If there are no setbacks, Viana should be available to make his Osasuna debut against Almeria when La Liga resumes in two weeks' time after the international break.
