Vaughn undergoes left ankle surgery

CARSON, California - Chivas USA defender Lawson Vaughn successfully underwent arthroscopic surgery today. The surgery, which removed scar tissue from the player's left ankle, was performed in Santa Monica, California by Chivas USA team doctors Michael Gerhardt and Eric Giza. Vaughn is expected to be out of action for up to six weeks.


The 23-year-old played a versatile role for Chivas USA in 2007, his second season in Major League Soccer, seeing time at central defender, holding midfielder and right back, while registering 1 goal and 2 assists in 24 regular-season appearances (22 starts).Originally a member of Chivas USA's Developmental Roster, Vaughn was selected by the Red-and-White in the third round of the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft.


Chivas USA opens preseason camp Feb. 4 at The Home Depot Center. The Red-and-White kick off their 2008 MLS season on March 30 at FC Dallas before playing their 2008 Home Opener against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, April 5 at The Home Depot Center.
