Valencia send Barcelona off in Cup

Valencia's Juan Mata scored what proved to be the game winner vs. Barcelona and set up a final against Getafe.

VALENCIA - Valencia will face Getafe in the Copa del Rey final after a nailbiting 3-2 win over Barcelona at Mestalla on Thursday.

With the semi-final evenly poised at 1-1 heading into the second leg, Ruben Baraja fired the hosts in front after 17 minutes before Juan Mata added a second shortly before the interval to put some breathing space between the two sides.

Substitute Thierry Henry then brought Barca back into the match in the 72nd minute, but Mata scored again minutes later to restore Valencia's two-goal cushion.

Barca continued to press though and an 80th-minute goal from Samuel Eto'o set up a tense finale.

But Frank Rijkaard's men were unable to complete the comeback as Valencia clung on for a 4-3 aggregate win and a meeting with Getafe, who reached their second consecutive Copa del Rey final at the expense of Racing Santander on Wednesday.
