WASHINGTON, D.C. - United for D.C., the charitable arm of D.C. United, opens its holiday auction today via dcunited.com. Soccer fans will be able to bid on exclusive items, unavailable for purchase anywhere else, with proceeds going to United's non-profit arm. The auction closes on Friday, December 8 at 11 a.m. ET and is the perfect opportunity to get a jump-start on holiday shopping, while supporting the many programs of United for D.C.

The crown jewel in this year's holiday auction is a Real Madrid Fantasy Package. A soccer fan's dream come true, this package includes two of the most sought after tickets in European football: Real Madrid v. Barcelona. Up for bid are two of the best seats in the house: box seats in Barcelona's legendary Nou Camp stadium to see Spain's two best teams go head-to-head in the match the locals call "El Clasico."

In addition to the match between two European powerhouses, the package also includes a two night stay at the five-star Majestic Hotel. Located in the heart of downtown Barcelona, this posh hotel is within walking distance to the city's top shopping boutiques as well as its famous "Las Ramblas" neighborhood, a vibrant and lively promenade which serves as the city's cultural center. The highest bidder for this package will also receive four hours of limousine service to get you to and from the match in style. All told, the estimated retail value of this package comes to $2,300.

Other premium items up for bids are autographed, match-worn uniforms of D.C. United's top stars, including Christian Gomez, Troy Perkins and Freddy Adu. These items include both the game-worn shirts, signed by the player, as well as the authentic D.C. United shorts. The auction also includes MLS All-Star jerseys autographed by D.C. United players, catering for a tailgate party of 10 by Ridgewells Catering, and team soccer balls autographed by Scottish champions Celtic FC and 2006 MLS Champions, Houston Dynamo.

All proceeds from the event go to United for D.C, however money raised by the Real Madrid package, will benefit both United for D.C.as well as Madrid's Red Deporte y Cooperacion (Sport and Cooperation) Network charity, which works to promote sports and physical education as a social integration tool in developing countries.
