United announces opening games for 2008 season

Washington, D.C. (December 4, 2007) - D.C. United announced today plans for the team to open its thirteenth season with a trip to Kansas City to face the Wizards on Saturday, March 29. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET at the new home of the Wizards, CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The four-time MLS Cup champions will return to RFK Stadium the following weekend to host Toronto FC in its home opener, set for Saturday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. ET. D.C. Tickets to the home opener on April 5 are currently available as part of all ticket packages-full season, half season and flex ticket plans. Upscale seating - including club section, private and semi-private boxes and field level seating - is also available and includes premium services such as meal service, complimentary parking and VIP access. Youth discounted pricing remains an option for United full season, half season and flex ticket packages.


United holds a record 15-12-7 all-time versus the Wizards and put together a record of 3-0 against Toronto FC last year in its first year of play in MLS. United is 6-5-1 all-time in its season openers and 5-4-3 all-time in home openers.


D.C United's season will likely begin before March 29, as the team will also be participating in the 2008 CONCACAF Champion's Cup. The club earned a berth in the annual tournament after capturing its second consecutive Supporters' Shield. It will be United's eighth trip to the Champions' Cup. In 2007, United lost on a 3-2 aggregate in the semi-finals to CD Guadalajara.
